Post-viability

Some people believe abortion should be allowed until the moment of birth. I would like a justification, in the comments section, of why a 35-week fetus in the womb has less rights than a 30-week premature baby.

EDIT: Having chatted with some people, I have gotten an answer. They say it's so she doesn't have to give birth.

The problem with this is (unless she's gonna stay pregnant forever) that the only thing left to decide is if the baby will be born dead or alive.

Essentially, the baby can be killed to make birth easier.

Prenatal Right[s]s[/s]

I've noticed that many personhood bills grant only the right to life to the unborn, and not full personhood. Why is this?

I'm 12 years old and what is this?

No, I haven't been hacked by /b/tards.

I've got an experiment for you. Go to Omegle or any anonymous chatting service and pretend to be completely clueless about abortion. Get someone to mention abortion* and ask what it is.

Almost invariably, they will admit it kill a baby. This isn't an argument; it's just interesting how many people will say it kills babies and still defend it.

*How? Say you're pregnant or something; just do it!

Followup

Yesterday's post got me to thinkin'. How many of you would be interested in advocating a law that limits the number of hours a student can be required to work on schoolwork (dropping to zero on breaks, of course)?

Source?

"although that bill says nothing about abortion or reproductive rights, I have read that very carefully. There are nine amendments in the Senate and the House which have attempted to prevent taxpayer funding in that bill.

Rejected Senator Coburn, Senator Hatch, Senator McCloskey and Representatives Spitz and Gingrich. They've all been rejected. You know what the bill does say? And I can cite the page and the number.

There will be no health care until you are born. While that baby is in the mother, we don't count that as a person. I can cite the page and the number. Medicaid and CHIP will only cover, quote, "at the time of birth", close quote.
"

He never cites it. Anyone know if he's right?

Suggestions

I'm tired of being the "abortion and current events" guy.

Any ideas?

Turning women and their doctors into criminals?

So? By that logic, laws protecting children against abuse turn parents into criminals.

In both cases, they're only criminalized if they violate the rights of their offspring. Parents are not criminalized just for being parents.

I do not see how mothers and their doctors should be exempt from responsibility for their action just because.

Can anyone explain how this is anything more than an appeal to emotion?

Amend it! 2

Actually, I think such an amendment has already been proposed. Does anyone know what it's called or who proposed it?

Law

I was on a wikiwalk, and it struck me: if perjury is a crime, why even bother having people take an oath?

Also, is it a crime to accuse someone of a crime you kow they're innocent of?

Year of the Cat Productions

I will be starting a proper pwnage series as soon as Windows Movie Maker will export the [freaking] files. I have two videos ready to go but still in .MSWMM format.

Any tips? The files are all accessible and there's enough disk space, though it does randomly pause in preview.

  2. actual sex ed
  3. simplified adoption

Logo

I am going to hold a logo contest for Restraint of the Heartless. This will be a logo for the blog, not me. The logo must:

  1. ...include only three colors. From top to bottom they must be: white, green, black. Bonus points for incorporating them into the design.
  2. ...be relatively simple, preferably easy to make into a favicon.
  3. ...represent what this blog is and stands for.
  4. ...represent this blog in a positive light.

What's in it for you? The winner will recieve recognition in a blog entry, get their logo on the site, recieve a free copy of any book I will write, and I will answer any six questions (s)he asks me, provided they are not too personally revealing.
